Shooting oneself in the foot

June 24th, 2008

I was greatly surprised when my PC contracted a virus, even more so when I couldn’t easily remove it.

Instead of spending several hours trying to get things back to normal (and afterward not even being sure that everything had been cleaned properly) I decided to reinstall the OS. Instead of re-installing Windows XP I decided to force Windows Vista on myself.

Before the cries of disbelief and rage start being flung my way, let me explain that there is only one reason I am doing this: it will make me use my Mac more.

Vista? I mean, I encourage Mac use, but really?

Oh I am already regretting it, believe me. I might be falling back to XP if things don’t improve.

Oh God, not a Mac. Since Vista is just a Mac with a new theme, it’s just as bad. If you can’t game on an OS, it’s NOT a computer. Geez.

…and Mac is just Linux with a new theme… :-P

I haven’t used McAfee since Truman days, and AVG has never given me a problem. I’d consider using it if you haven’t tried recently - their newest free release is pretty full-featured…and again…I haven’t had a virus in years…
